What this covers
StackScan respects copyright and answers notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512). This covers what StackScan shows or keeps for others: inventory links shared from Vendor mode, files sent with Send to computer, and the card pictures StackScan shows.
Sending a notice
Email your notice to the address under Contact below. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them.
- The copyrighted work you say is infringed, or a list of them if one notice covers several.
- The material you say infringes, and enough to find it, such as the link to the page.
- How to reach you: your name, postal address, phone number and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
StackScan removes or disables the material once it has a complete notice. There are no accounts, so StackScan may have no way to tell the person who shared it.
Counter-notice
If your material was taken down and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, email a counter-notice that includes:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- The material that was taken down, and where it was before, such as the link.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was taken down by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, postal address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district where StackScan may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
StackScan sends your counter-notice to the person who sent the notice. The material can go back up 10 to 14 business days after StackScan receives the counter-notice, unless that person first tells StackScan they have filed a court action to keep it down.
Repeat infringers
StackScan takes down the links of anyone who repeatedly shares infringing material and, where it can, stops them from sharing new ones.
False notices
Knowingly claiming that material infringes when it does not, or that it was taken down by mistake when it was not, can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).
